Why do we feel fatigued when we are healing from surgery?

I don't know about you, when I was recovering from surgery, I was exhausted. I felt like I could sleep for days. I'm not sure if it was the anesthesia or the stress of the surgery itself, but I was just so tired all the time.

So I researched why we are so tired after surgery?

There are a few reasons why we might feel this way.

First, our bodies are working hard to heal the trauma and incisions during surgery. This takes a lot of energy and can be pretty taxing on our system. Additionally, we might be taking pain medication which can make us drowsy. Or, we might be experiencing what is known as "post-operative fatigue." This type of fatigue is common after any kind of surgery and is thought to be caused by a combination of physical and psychological factors.

Whatever the reason for our fatigue, it is important to listen to our bodies and get the rest that we need. Recovery from surgery is no joke, and it takes a lot out of us! So, if you find yourself feeling tired all the time, don't fight it; just take a nap. You deserve it!

If you're feeling tired after your surgery, don't worry, it's completely normal! Our bodies are working hard to heal and recover from the trauma of surgery, which can take a lot out of us. Make sure to listen to your body and get plenty of rest. You'll be back to your old self in no time!

I created a special Emotional Freedom Technique Class in the studio to help ease the feelings of fatigue. You can find it here.
