The Myth of Perfectionism

There's a lot of pressure on women to be perfect. We're supposed to have perfect bodies, perfect careers, perfect families, perfect lives. But the thing is, perfection is a myth. It doesn't exist. And trying to achieve it is a surefire recipe for anxiety and disappointment. So, let's debunk the myth of perfectionism once and for all.

What is Perfectionism?

Perfectionism is the unrealistic belief that we have to be perfect in order to be acceptable. It's the voice in our head that tells us we're not good enough, that we have to try harder, do more, be more. It's the constant pursuit of an impossible goal. And it's exhausting.

The problem with perfectionism is that it's based on the false premise that there's such a thing as perfect. But perfection is a myth. It doesn't exist. And trying to achieve it is a surefire recipe for anxiety and disappointment. So, how can we let go of perfectionism and learn to accept ourselves for who we are?

Tips for Letting Go of Perfectionism

1. Set realistic standards for yourself.

2. Give yourself credit for your accomplishments—no matter how small they may seem.

3. Don't compare yourself to others.

4. Learn to accept your imperfections.

5. Practice self-compassion.
