How to cope with the shock of a breast cancer diagnosis?
When you're diagnosed with breast cancer, it's normal to feel a range of emotions, including shock and disbelief. It can be hard to process all the information you're given and come to terms with your new reality. ( Remember the big folder of pamphlets?) It's important to remember that you're not alone. There are many women who have gone through or are currently going through the same thing. Here are some tips on how to cope with the shock of a breast cancer diagnosis.
1. Get information from credible sources (I’m looking at you doctor Google. We have all done it but it isn’t helpful and often times scary. )
2. Find a support group or talk to friends and family members who have gone through a similar experience. ( Kendall found it help to talk to acquaintances. They are less likely to give you unsolicited advice. )
3. Take care of yourself - eat healthy foods, get enough sleep, and exercise regularly. ( This is our specialty at The Deep Center. ) We take the guess work out of taking care of yourself during this time. )
4. Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it.
5. Focus on the things you can control.
It is natural to feel a range of emotions after a cancer diagnosis. These feelings can be overwhelming, but it is important to process them and seek support. Let us be one of those resources. We are founded by a Breast Cancer thriver. We get it!
