Movement is Medicine for Breast Cancer: The Importance of Exercise During and After Treatment

Did you know that movement is medicine for breast cancer? Exercise has been shown to improve the prognosis of those with breast cancer, both during and after treatment. In this blog post, we will discuss the importance of exercise for those with breast cancer, as well as some tips on how to get started.

There are many benefits to exercise for those with breast cancer. Exercise has been shown to improve overall survival, disease-free survival, and quality of life. Exercise has also been shown to reduce the risk of recurrence and improve treatment outcomes. Furthermore, exercise can help to reduce fatigue, anxiety, and depression, all of which are common among cancer patients.

So how can you get started with exercise if you have breast cancer? First, it is important to consult with your doctor or oncologist before starting any new exercise program. Once you have the green light from your medical team, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, start slow and gradually increase your intensity and duration as you are able. Second, focus on activities that you enjoy and are feasible for your current fitness level. And finally, be sure to listen to your body and rest when needed.

We recommend starting with Deep Breath ( meditation) Deep Release (tapping) or Deep Stretch ( rehab/pre-hab) Classes. Once you get your strength back you can move on to our Cardio and Strength Classes. Check out our classes at The Deep Center.
