It’s the Weekend and you have social anxiety
What do you do?
Here are three tips that can improve social anxiety.
1. Get out of your comfort zone
One of the best things you can do to relieve social anxiety is to get out of your comfort zone. This may mean attending a party even if you don't know anyone or striking up a conversation with a stranger. The more you expose yourself to situations that make you anxious, the less anxious you will feel in them.
2. Challenge your negative thoughts
Another helpful strategy for relieving social anxiety is to challenge your negative thoughts. If you're feeling anxious about an upcoming event, ask yourself if there's any evidence to support your fears. Chances are, you'll find that your anxiety is much worse than the situation warrants.
3. Be prepared
Another helpful tip for dealing with social anxiety is to be prepared. If you know you're going to be in a situation that makes you anxious, take some time beforehand to plan what you'll say and do. This will help you feel more confident and in control when the time comes.
