My Totally Useless Skill: Memorizing 90's Rap Lyrics

We all have skills that are not particularly useful, but they still bring us a lot of joy. For me, that skill is memorizing 90's rap lyrics. It's not something I brag about often, but it's a talent that I'm proud of. The 90's was a big time for rap music, and I love being able to recite some of my favorite lyrics from that era. In this blog post, I'm going to share more about this skill and why it's so much fun.

When I mention this skill to people, they often ask me why 90's rap lyrics specifically. For me, it's because this was the era of music I grew up listening to. There was something special about the way rappers like Tupac, Notorious B.I.G, Tribe Called Quest, and Wu-Tang Clan conveyed their messages through music. I love the wordplay and the way some of the lyrics can still hold deep meaning today.

One of the things I like about memorizing 90's rap lyrics is that it requires a lot of focus and brainpower. It's not easy to memorize multiple verses of a song, especially when the lyrics are rapid-fire and full of slang and cultural references. But when I do get a song down pat, it feels like a real accomplishment.

Another benefit of memorizing rap lyrics is that it's a great party trick. Sometimes I'll be at a get-together, and someone will put on a classic 90's rap song. I'll start rapping along, and suddenly everyone is impressed and cheering me on. It's a great way to break the ice and show off my skills. 🕺

Of course, this skill isn't exactly something that's going to help me advance in my career or improve my personal life. But that's not really the point. Sometimes it's important to have hobbies and talents that are just for fun. And for me, memorizing 90's rap lyrics is something that brings me a lot of joy and satisfaction.

In closing, this blog post has helped you understand more about my totally useless skill of memorizing 90's rap lyrics. While it may not be practical or productive, it's still a talent that I'm proud of. If you have a similar skill that brings you joy, I encourage you to embrace it and share it with others. After all, life is too short to only focus on things that are practical. Sometimes it's good to let loose and have a little fun.

Think about it. What is your useless but fun skill?
