My favorite trip of 2022

We have all heard about power in numbers when it comes to safety.  The truth is there is power in numbers, period.

In October of 2021, I was home sitting on the couch recovering from the Delta variant.  ( a little token from an anniversary trip I took with Clayton to the Flordia Keys)  Before Clayton left for work that morning, he gave me the talk he gives when I am sick.  It sounds like this.

“Kendall, don’t work.  Just relax.  You won’t get better if you keep pushing yourself.  You must rest. Now just sit on the sofa and watch TV.”

Me: Groan.  I know he is right. So this morning, I follow his orders, sort of.

I AM sitting on the sofa….with my laptop next to me, working.

Then I heard on the Today Show about a Young Breast Cancer Foundation called I Rise Above.  Hey, I am a young survivor. It caught my attention.

The Foundation is taking women on adventure travel to Utah to test their limits and see what they are made of after cancer.

I am SO in.

After I read a bit more, I see they also have a wellness collective.  (Before this discovery, I was praying for a non-profit partnership where I could contribute my time and talents. ) This was it.

So I reached out to the founder, Gillian Lichota and our friendship bloomed. The rest is history now.

I just returned from Zion National Park and Bryce National Park where I laughed, cried, hiked, repelled, climbed, and tested my limits.

I was surrounded by 7 young thrivers and one awesome guide.  We are all women from different parts of the country with a very similar shared history;  we all have a breast cancer story and we are all thriving.  I now have 7 new best friends who totally get me.

They know when they spot a bathroom, that I will have to go. They know when we take pictures, I will be the one with my eyes closed. They also know that I love to twerk.  ( more on that in future IG reels )

As it turns out, compared to Breast Cancer, repelling down a 110-foot cliff is nothing.

If you don’t have a sacred circle yet, let The Deep Center service as on.  I answer every DM and email personality.

I see you. I am you.

Kendall
